There was a chance that console gamers could get their hands on operation flashpoint 2 this Christmas but unfortunately this will not be the case. Codemasters have announced that they are re-deploying the games release ’some point next year’. So we can easily assume we have no idea of its released but we could estimate that the game will be released in spring of 2009.
Codemasters will be releasing ofp2 teaser trailers for us to watch, will this help the extended release date? Well no, but at least its something! So keep checking my operation flashpoint 2 video section for more trailers.

As worrying as it is that this game is coming to consoles, it is even more worrying that it will be released FIRST on consoles. GTA is an example of a game which was originally PC-exclusive, then ported to consoles and completely ruined in the process. FPS does not belong on consoles. You can’t get the same level of control with a joypad that you can with a mouse/keyboard-setup. I’m fearing that this may become another battlefield-clone. Completely unrealistic with random and limited gameplay. *yuk*

Hi Mads, Totally agree with you there, its like you spoke my mind. Have you ever heard of test drive unlimited a car simulation game? Its was basically a xbox 360 port for the pc! full of bugs and never got patched, brilliant example!
I played the original OFP which was an amazing pc game! Back then the game was not cross platform which focused the concentration on the p.c. platform, im scared to think that with new developers on the game will there concentration be else where? Lets hope not!
I guess producers feel that the game should be released on console first, plus development time is longer for the pc because the game technically can offer so much more performance. A pc has a wider variety of hardware from numerous manufacturers offering different technologies!
**Mads the best part of your comment had to be the PC vs Console war of the FPS! I’ve gone into my local gaming shop in the past to experience cod on the xbox! I didnt even play it for 1 minute! An experience I’d never want to witness EVER again!
I also played GTA on the ps2, using a sniper rifle in the pc version was a totally different in-terms of gameplay.
Dont get me wrong this website is cross platform but experiencing a FPS on the P.C. is a must!

If I remember correctly from what I have told be the community managers. OFP2 will be released as a PC title with ports to console. The Ports are being made at the same time, but the PC version ‘gets the most attention’ they understand OFP2 and FPS in general are PC affair and to continue the legacy of OFP2 I believe they realized they need to be respectful of this.

Thanks for this information Polaris! Its great news to hear that the pc will be the first and primary platform in development.
After all OFP the original was PC platform based and so it should stay! Obviously with involvement of consoles.

Madness, codemasters cannot be stupid enough to port this game. Just cant, these games are garbage on consoles and no ADD riddled console playing retard is going to play a game like this.
January 20th, 2009 at 1:25 am
the game will be awesome no matter wut its on.
so wut if everything thats on the computer version wont be on the consols. i think codemasters knows wut there doing. it will be a big game and it will be fine on the consoles. these games can be amazing on console if the right developer is putting it out. and codemasters is deffenitly the right devlopers for the job.

I am a console player and looking forward to this title, they can make it work if they do it right. and they arent watering down anything on the pc version because of the console version most likely other way round if you read their page, so stop your pathetic wining and name calling. if u dont like it on console stick to pc. and the pc is the only one with a release date published yet, in march.

I want this on the 360, I loved the original!

PC gaming is a thing of the past and PC gamers are a dieing breed get with the program console gaming is the future and do be disappointed when all of your precious PC titles go straight to consoles so go out and buy a 360!!!
February 1st, 2009 at 11:15 pm
360 are what people who can’t get their PC to boot go out and buy. Anyone who doesn’t understand why the PC is the platform for any FPS games really doesn’t understand what they are missing. And probably never will. Consoles only ever get half the game a PC release is… oh unless it’s a crappy console port to PC which is what we are all worried about. It’s a shame, but I think it’s going to be unavoidable. :o(

NO, not true… The PC world is still going strong and its not a dyeing breed at all. I just put my Gaming PC together and i play on steam all the time. the multiplayer factor is better then xbox and ps2. i should know i own an xbox 360 and the games that are out for xbox are also out for the pc and the rooms and game-play are better. there are more people online and more rooms to choose from. Example: Team Fortress 2 for the Orange box. You would find more people and rooms, not to mention mod rooms for the pc than the Xbox. when OFP2 comes ot im getting it for the PC. two reasons. 1) more players up to 32 players with no lag! 2) better rooms and most likely they will have mod maps and maps you can create. WAY BETTER!

Us, how hated we may seem to be by most of you, console gamers are grateful for quality games porting from pc. I feel keyboard and mouse controls are limiting. I agree with BabyLEGG buy a console then you’ll find yourself complaining a lot less.
February 13th, 2009 at 1:01 pm
I’m just on the fence here! Watching both sides! Personally I think its down to your experiences of gaming. The platform you choose might not be a choice of another gamer.
There are pros and cons of any platform! You know with a console the game will play at the performance levels you’d expect! With a P.C its more advanced, every P.C is different in my opinion so the game will play differently.
I feel there is something that’s lacking on all platforms and that is, the ability to play online between console and P.C! At least it would bring gamers from all types to kill each other online!

I own a 360… They are good for driving games, but a PC will always be much better at everything else, Xbox’s and PS3’s are non upgradable, well not as much as a PC… maybe a bigger HD but that’s about it, once new games with better graphics come out your consoles will need replaced. On the other hand all you will need is a new graphics card for the pc, + games are always better on pc, always have been always will be, think of console’s as a walkman and a pc as an ipod lol.

Hello, can you please post some more information on this topic? I would like to read more.

I am a console gamer that was converted from a pc. I have the first ofp and still play it this day. If any of you that are scared of a console game ported to the pc had read any of the press releases by the producers you would see that they are making 3 different games. One for X360 one for PS3 and one for PC. I realy don’t know what the hell your all worried about. And with the keyboard and mouse vs. Controller debate, it is all based on what the player feels comfortable with. I feel better with my hands on a controller rather than a mouse and keyboard. I cant do well on a keyboard but I kick arse with a controller. That’s he main reason I own a 360 controller when I own a PS3. So please stop bitching about which is better.
