Welcome back to ofp2 online. We are forever trying to gain new media information whether it be videos, images or even developers comments. Ofp2 online would like to confirm that the in-game level editor will be implemented at launch.
We can also confirm that the screen shots provided are taken from a p.c based platform and there is currently no evidence for cross platform interfaces i.e. console gamers. The high resolution images show that the editor is based on a normal x86 window interface ie. “windows xp platform”. We can also state that the level editor may be a completely separate application. Consider the original ofp2 if you would, the in-game level editor was actually in-game, these screen shots however show otherwise, (separate windows application which is installed with the game).
We can imagine that the community would like to know how big the in-game levels are. The bellow screens shots show exactly the full scale of how big ofp2 multiplayer in-game levels will be. The three screen shots are basically the same area at different given zoom levels showing exactly the sheer scale of these ofp2 multiplayer levels. The end user will be able to move the ‘hashed’ square any where across the island. This will in turn give the surface area for that given multiplayer level.
Ofp2 online will carry on researching into the cross platform matter because we believe that current playstation3 and xbox 360 gamers still deserve the chance of editing and creating levels. This can only maximise the operation flashpoint 2 community whether it be console or not. It would be a nice to make the assumption that p.c gamers and console gamers could ’swap’ maps and share gamerlevels across the community.
With this said ofp2 online still believe an in-game level editor could be added, if the console community shows vast interest regarding level editing ofp2 online can assume that a patch could be available for both playstaion3/ xbox 360, we can only wait in anticipation.

It has been thought across the community that the ofp2 demo will be released very shortly. An official codemaster source has released information that an official demo will be released shortly. There has been much speculation regarding the operation flashpoint 2 demo.
Ofp2 online can confirm the ofp2 demo was originally going to be released prior to the launch of operation flashpoint 2. We can now confirm that the demo plans have now changed. The launch of the ofp2 demo will be released post launch of the final ofp2 release date. The demo will consist of a single and co-cooperative mode for P.C users only.
To be honest OFP2 online are not surprised by this action. It seems there is a slight bias for P.C based platforms. P.C gamers seem to get the level editing and the demo release. Lets hope that future information will give cross platform gamers i.e. Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 the chance to play the demo also. It would be a shame if the demo is not release for both console communities. (lets not forget the original game was created for the p.c market only).
There are many factors to consider why codemasters has decided to release the official game before the demo. The main reason is that the development team would like full focus on the official game not the demo. Secondly in order to create a fully polished 100% finished game the demo must be pushed back, its understandable.
For more information on the ofp2 demo release date please follow the link provided. This page is dedicated to the release date of the demo. The page will also provide links to download the demo on release. Any information on cross platform demo release will be provided, once available.

There has been much speculation on the release date of ofp2. If I can point you back to a post on the released date back in December 2008 Operation Flashpoint 2009 release. I mentioned that the game would be released in 2009 but when ofp2:online just didnt know.
Community forums and general community news have stated that Operation Flashpoint 2 will be released June/July of this year. Obviously this has not been the case and the release has yet again again been pushed backwards. With this said, there is confirmation that ofp2 will be released in October the last quarter of 2009.
Codemasters the creators of Operation Flashpoint 2 have released confirmation that the game will be released on the 6th of October 2009. Codemasters still have the right to push this date back yet again. I wouldnt be surprised if this happens, but any fan of ofp2 would agree that even if Codemasters decided to extend the release, the wait would be worth while.
for more information on release, you can find an archive of past release date information here ofp2 release date . The link will also provide information on the current status of the update. So in case the release date it delayed, the community will be the first to know.

I have been slightly bias over the content of operation flashpoint 2. Being a so called hardcore gamer, first person shooters are essential on p.c. platforms, ok you may argue your point (comment). Saying that, I too own a Playstaion 3 and for that fact alone I would like to bring an old post back into circulation.
You may remember my post on OFP2 level editing kit where I asked users to cast their minds back to the original game. The original operation flashpoint included a inbuilt level editor whereby gamers could create their own levels and post them to various fan websites. With this said, I would like to point your attention to the new OFP2 editor!
Even though the game is now cross platform sources have announced that the game will NOT have in-game editing, thus loosing a great section of the game which returned a large community interest to ofp2 gamers.
“thats rubbish, you already stated above that there is an editor!” says the viewers of operation flashpoint 2 online, but P.C gamers will have the ability to create custom missions and customise their own creations. Unfortunately, Xbox 360 and Playstaion 3 gamers will not have this option. We could argue that peripherals such as keywords and mice can be connected via USB2 ports via their consoles. Even though consoles may have this ability developers relentlessly have chosen not to add peripheral functionality in games, why not? Well consoles are made for a reason, they use control pads not keywords and mice, resulting to the reason why Codemaster developers feel that game editing is best left alone for P.C interfaces not consoles.
Gamers using P.Cs to play the game will get what they hoped for and then some. A brilliant Single, Multilayer game with extra bonus functionality of game editing.
Console gamers will get what they hoped for too, a game they couldn’t play originally on Playstaion 2 and get a understanding to why P.C gamers loved the original. OK editing isn’t included but when is game editing a big part of console gaming?
To the frequent viewers of Operation Flashpoint 2 Online I will be announcing something that relates to all platforms of the game. So keep posted!

I think we are getting that little closer to release, I know the community is aware that operation flashpoint 2 will be released during July of this year, but it doesn’t mean the ofp2 community wont get access to some really nice screenshots. There have been many screenshots flying across the internet but its seems that code masters are ready to release more information in terms of media and so-forth.
It doesn’t take long before you realise these images are in-game quality, not your usual game art but actual in ofp2 in-game images! You can see the High dynamic lighting effects of modern day graphics along with high model details, I guess you could say its that little bit closer to actual playing! Not quite!
Enjoy!

Codemaster has recently become more specific over the release date of ofp2. Codemaster has released information to different review websites stating the release will be this summer.
“Flashpoint is currently slated officially as summer 2009.” said a representative from CodeMasters. They also said that Codemasters could not be “any more precise than that right now”.
The release of ofp2 was initially for winter 2008, but then a more realistic release date of the 1st quarter of 2009 was announced. Now, the release date has been pushed back to after the 2nd quarter of 2009, July.
Codemasters itself are developing the game after dropping Bohemia Interactive the creators of the first operation flashpoint. Some of you may be aware that Bohemia Interactive have decided to create Arma2 which is Bohemias way of introducing some competition to the Operation Flashpoint 2 Simulator. It would be interesting to see how the competition match and which game comes out on-top.

It has come to my attention the Operation Flashpoint 2 will be released onto the steam client. Gamers who already own a steam ID will be able to take full advantage of ofp2 through the application, online store. However, Games such as GTA IV on initial release had teething problems when a portion of the community tried to download the content to find the game was buggy and wouldn’t validate when checking downloaded binaries.
If you are wondering what Steam is, Steam uses a graphical user interface allowing anyone with a steam id to buy and download games and other media content. Earlier Counter Strike gamers would have adopted this client many years ago when it was first introduced, after the 1.6 version of the modification. Steam has then since increased in popularity, promoting third party games and non valve derived games onto the client. This allowed the gaming community to have access to a wide range of games from all kinds of developers.
This is great news for the community because steam is already a well known gaming tool for the community so promoting ofp2 will increase multiplayer awareness and create an even bigger online community than expected.

We are nearly into February, I dont know if its just me but the release of the ofp2 demo feels ever so closer. Unfortunately there is no sound of an operation flashpoint 2 demo but ofp2:online still has a number of images to show the community. These ofp2 images follow the previous format, model viewer type model rendering with a weapon model and description tag explaining the in-game object model.
In our last ofp2 image gallery we had a selection of vehicles and weaponry, today we have a extended list of ofp2 weapon images, helicopters and small riverine crafts not to mention you standard issue jeep!
Images source from GameSpot Japan
Lets hope Codemaster releases more information now that we are getting closer to the official release, lets hope more information will be leaked regarding demo and retail release.

Now I’d like to commiserate the Soldiers of Iraq from both western allied based troops, to be honest the general public forget about these affairs. With titles such as COD4 providing realistic virtualisation of real life warfare. We must step back a minute and think about real life situations and how lucky we are to be playing games in our own environments not stranded at bases working on Christmas day fighting enemy forces. Think about the family’s who are missing their partners or their children not being able to see their farther or mother over Christmas. I’m sorry to bring this up but when I’m playing games I get a sense of realism and try to relate my experiences to real life. Ok I’m a civilian but it doesn’t mean we can’t play respects to our military forces! Plus, Will the release of Operation Flashpoint 2 we wont be far away from that reality check! I know the game is based on the Skira Island near northern Japan unlike call of duty 4 but the game will provide modern military weaponry and game-play which will still give us that sense of realism.
Computer simulation is a common way of providing alternatives for military training, for example pilots will be trained using computerised simulation before they test drive aviation vehicles which cost hundreds of millions. Alternatively, gaming has this effect on public game releases to a point where public game-play was used for army simulation. Games based on the Tom Clancy series are a close call but to be honest OFP2 will offer more with regards to simulation and fulfillment of gameplay.
Oh don’t forget to check my thumbnail, I’m sure many of you have come across these familiar posters which came from the periods of world war one and two. Posters such as the above tried to provide patriotism, confidence and positive outlook on the war during different seasonal periods, the result would put a positive spin on current affairs and help the British/ US win the war!
Oh I forgot to ask! Don’t forget to leave a Christmas Present list comment with all your wish list goodies. May be you’ll be getting that xbox 360 or PS3 you dreamt of? May be your relying on Santa bringing you that console so you can play Operation Flashpoint 2, who knows! Don’t forget to POST!
Make sure you come back because there will be surprises coming over the xmas period! With inclusion of what Operation Flashpoint 2 online will be offering next year!
All the best and Have a Merry Christmas, OFP2:Online
