Operation Flashpoint 2 Online

| Your Gaming Resource!

Do any of you remember the in-game map editor for operation flashpoint? Well if you dont, I will remind you! Operation flashpoint has a in-game option to create single and multiplayer levels, this was a excellent move from the developers because the implementation of the editor created a online community not only for online game-play but for editing!

The interface allowed the user to create triggers, waypoints, markers and units, all of which allowed the editor to created customised scenarios. The editing was easy to use and after a couple of hours you would be left with a full level ready for upload to your favourite editing website.

So what should we expect in operation flashpoint 2? Will there still be a in-game editor? will the community be larger than the last game? who knows. But I would like to add that the game is now developed by codemaster not bohemia interactive. Could this affect the style of the editor more over, could this affect game-play in general, wells thats another story but it will be surprising to see what the new developers will oftern in-terms of level editing, if anything.

Welcome back to OFP2:ONLINE! I have yet another in gamer footage of the upcoming fps games simulator Operation Flashpoint 2. The footage is based on the xbox 360 platform and should show us gamers what to expect for the up-coming release.

The video starts off with a sand/ grass terrain with your squad pushing north into further grass surroundings. There is suddenly a point when there is smoke everywhere! soldiers pushing forward from all angles! You can clearly see the game in full swing, from vehicles to different squads members you name it! Just think of the ofp2 multiplayer capabilities!

Stay posted for more videos!

So ofp2is coming to your gaming platform next year around spring time! For us P.C gamers specifications of your rig can make or break the game! So what would be the excepted minimum for the game? Well lets find out!

For starters the game could be released on either P.C DVD or even Blu ray, the latter would dramatically change the situation because that means 25gig’s worth of data can be stored onto this media type making a hefty initial installation.

Playing massive open geographical environments in games usually means lagg! Not the term used for slow internet connections but more over, graphical performance. Massive open environments such as bf2, nothing as close as ofp or ofp2 though! lagged even with fast systems! This will be no different in ofp2! Bellow are estimated specification needed to run minimum settings and then I will look into maximum settings for the no budget gamers, thats me out then!

OFP2 Minimum Specs **estimated**

  • CPU: AMD 64 3200+ / Intel Pentium 4 3.0GHz +
  • Memory: 512MB (XP) or 1GB (Vista)
  • HD Space: 8GB
  • Graphics Card: Nvidia 6600GT/ATI Radeon 1600XT or higher (Shader 3.0 or better) with 256MB memory

These specifications are based on the latest cod5 and Far Cry 2 engines. Remember that ofp2’s gaming engine is totally different to these and so specifications could be lower/ higher. From the time of this blog post to the official release, computer specifications will change, DDR 3 will be widely used, core i7 will be officially mainstream, gamers will be using directx 10. I really doubt these specifications would play the game enjoyably

Stay posted for more information and news articles on ofp2 specifications. Have your say and tell me what specifications you would expect the game to require! I will be compiling a list of specifications and benchmarks in the up-coming months of this year.

Today I thought I would have a blast from the past moment! It gives us gamers the chance to reminisce the good and bad points of the game. I went in search of images across the InterWeb and found a collection of goodies. One of my favourites has to be the parachuting and binocular screenshots oh not to mention the screenshot of the guerillas in single player mode!, brings back some good memories! I remember missing cut scenes so I would reload my last saved game just to listen to it again.

Making your own maps, using the in-game editor or just plain online gaming, So what did it for you? what got you into OFP and OFP2? was it the single player mode, spending hours and hours running round like a headless chicken trying to figure out what to do next? Or was it more the multiplayer carnage?

Check out these screens below! They might trigger your memory!

Leave your comments and have your say! What do you expect to see in the new OFP2? Would you integrate anything from the original? what was your favourite past time when playing the ofp?

Apparently the i-phone will play OFP2 Online! Nah only joking! Not that you would believe such a statement anyway but it was worth a try :p.

Today I want to talk about the multiplayer aspects of the game. I’m not sure if this was the same as it was for you but multiplayer seemed to be the most memorable part of the game. OFP2 was easily the best multiplayer game around, clans seemed to prop up every where, there was even a few occasions when I got lost in the woods and got ripped as a n00b but we all got to start some where, right?

OFP2 Multiplayer
The pc version includes 32 player 16 vs 16 environment. There is also a new addition to online play. Each gamer can have a squad of 8 soldiers this makes wider spread gaming easier and more true to life.
There is also an additional 8 player co-op which usually goes down well, take Sven Co-op for example, brilliant half life shooter!

Last but not least, players can also go for a 4 player campaign and single player mission co-op, awesome! lets hope the community will create numerous server across the world, one thing operation flashpoint was lacking, running a server on cable 128 kb upload, is not good!

check out my older ofp2 image post just to remind you of how good this game is!

I usually frown upon streaming video content over the internet, Gaming graphics has continued to advance since the early days of death match, things have come along way and this is why streaming videos @ 320×240 resolution does not do the game any justice! So I have provided a download link so the community can get the full aspect of the game in full true detail, well nearly! codemasters official video.

OFP2 Online will try to bring the operation flashpoint 2 community as many high quality videos as possible, either in the form of  links or direct media, who knows but we will do it!
For those of you who don’t wish to download the full High Definition video and would like a quick teaser then check out this low quality video of a Operation Flashpoint 2 teaser hosted on you tube.

I have yet another set of images for the ofp2 community. When I first came across these images I was slightly concerned about the image quality and graphics rendering. Dont despair, because these are not Operation Flashpoint 2 Images but our competition! Yes you guessed it! Arma2. If you look at my previous OFP2 images you can see the difference in quality by quite a margin.

Images are being passed around the community where these arma2 images are misleading gamers into thinking these screenshots are OFP2 based! Well thanks to our OFP2 DR neighbours, these images were spotted quite easily! The images are property of Bohemia Interactive not codemaster which is a big of a give away considering the majority of the pictures are watermarked! sheesh!

If any images similar to the bellow state that the media are based on Operation Flashpoint 2! Well this is simply not true. When new media eventually makes it on the interWeb we can then compare more of our competition and hopefully see more true in-game graphics. Lets leave Codemasters at what they do best and just sit back and wait!

Welcome back to Operation Flashpoint 2 Online! Over the past week or so I have been introducing different elements of the game from geographical locations, weaponry and motion capture. Today I will be introducing information on Vehicles within operation flashpoint 2 Dragon Rising. All information is officially from codemaster HQ and today we have the last installment of intel they based on their new gaming engine.

Vehicles
The game will have a wide range of vehicles. Operation Flashpoint 2 will include 50 different vehicles ranging from air, naval and land units. Vehicles react to different terrain types for example, A jeep will perform differently on boggy based terrain than grass or tarmac.

The developers have created vehicles with varying strengths and weaknesses, a little like your weapon types! Tanks have heavy armour to protect key target areas such as fuel tanks. Jeeps are faster, they can dodge artillery and so-forth. Ok, you may expect this in a modern FPS but the result would create varying multi-player game play.

A key feature to this game is how vehicle interaction is implemented in OFP2. Developers have not only thought about vehicles and your interaction within the game but also your teams mates and crew. Developers have created vehicles so 5/ 6 members of your squad can hitch a ride or even provide vital cover against the enemy using on-board weaponary. Passenger implementation has been carefully designed. Passenger positions in vehicles are based on real life military vehicles of today such as the current vehicles of Afghanistan.

The game has always been top class. The above just demonstrates how in depth vehicles are integrated into the game but, unlike other games such as BF2 the player can see a big difference in gaming style. Operation Flashpoint 2 provides all what current titles do but at a much higher level. Operation Flashpoint 2 will be over average at all aspect of the game not just as a First Person shooter or Vehicle based gaming title.
